I was at DLR yesterday (had fun but it was too flippin' HOT!). This week they are having a soft opening FOR CMs ONLY for Toy Story Mania! (So no, I didn't get to go on it, phooey!)
I stood by the exit, where there was a CM with a little notepad getting comments intermittently from the CMs coming off the ride. All the CMs said it was fantastic, and that the Buzz ride at D-Land paled in comparison. (It was also really funny/strange seeing CMs in all their different costumes coming out of the exit.) Someone (guest, not CM) asked the CM at the exit when the ride would open to the public, and he said the target date at this point is June 17. Just thought I'd pass that on.
The little store you enter when you exit the ride, called Midway Mercantile, is open. They have lots of cool Toy Story-themed toys, some t-shirts, etc. They had some pins--ones that have been out for a while already: Buzz, the light-up Buzz pin, the Toy Story Mania! free-D pin. Lots of cute plushes--including a little green man one that says "ooooooh" and vibrates (!) when you press a button on his hand.
Across from the ride is a small standalone building that is a "turkey cart"--it sells turkey legs, that's open now too.
Also, if you are a DLR passholder, go on the Disney website (passholder page), you can enter a contest to ride Toy Story Mania!; they are all early June dates (you can pick which dates/times would be best for you if you win).
I can't wait until the ride opens!!!!!!!
