Someone on Craiglist in my area is selling pin #39981 or a
whopping $650. I called to ask if it was a typo, but it wasn't. What I'm asking is, would anyone actually buy it for that price? What would
your max be?

I just posted about this very pin...LOL...and I would have (and did) paid just about $187.50 for it...and it has retained it's value, however...$650 is way
out there and not anywhere in the ballpark for this pin IMO. If I could get another one for the BF for about $150 I would consider it...but I wouldn't pay
anything more for it.

Can anyone enlighten me as to why this one is that valuble? I mean its a LE 5000, is it not? I'm not that oblivious that I have no clue, but the only
things that come to mind is that it marks a signifcant event in the history of Disneyland and Disney in general. But for it to be worth upwards of $150 or
whatever it sells for, the only thing I can think of to combine with the first reason is that not all 5000 pins were released. This pin was released during my
time away from the hobby so I don't really know the story behind this pin and whether it was pulled or not all released or something. I see that there was
a "I Worked There" pin that looks exactly the same, but I have seen this pin sell for less than $20. You would think that a CM version of this pin
would be more scarce than one available to the public, no? Again, it could be that most if not all the CM pins were released and not the public version because
I'd think that the CM version would mean as much to the cast member who owns it for the very same reason that any guest who got it that day would feel
about the significant event. Its an attachment to that day and this pin commemorates that just like the MSEP spinner does for a lot of people because they
remember this parade that was showing for the last time and they wanted that spinner pin to remember that day. But the MSEP spinner pin is not selling for more
than $50, last time I saw.

Well it could have something to do with the fact that some of us, lined up at 9pm, on the night before, spent the night in DCA (singing along with the
backround music), so that when the park opened pretty much all the pins were accounted for, the line went from the Frontierland Ranch area all the way back to
Critter Country if I'm not mistaken... So basically if you weren't there that night, you couldn't walk in to get the pin. That's just my guess

Only thing I can say about the "I Worked There" pin is that I got mine from a CM on July 18th, 2005. I can't say how I came to own it as I might
get someone in trouble, however, I found from this CM that Disney Casting had "bowls of them" where they could pick up another should theirs get
lost.
My understanding from some was that they bought the "I Worked There" pins from DL Hotel staff since they would have rathered have the money than the pin. Also...there were 5000 "I Was There" pins and there's no telling how many "I Worked There" pins there were...each CM whether they worked there or not, was given one (atleast). That's not counting the pins that were replaced. As for the photo above of the pin on the card, the card looks a bit beat up on the bottom corners...the person selling shouldn't get top dollar for that reason. I'm not usually a card kinda gal unless it specificlly enhances the pin, and this card definately needs to be with the pin, IMO. ~* Noreen*~

Eeyore Collector, I don't get it either. I would LOVE to have this pin (it's an HG). I was one of the people who waited to get into DL that day, but I
was not a pin trader at the time and I did not know about this pin. I wanted merchandise with the date and ended up with a t-shirt and a mug. I thought that
was great until I discovered this pin. Now I want it. Unfortunately there is no way I could spend $100 on one pin. I would trade an awful lot of pins for it
though. $650 is just crazy.

As Vanessa said, we waited ALL NIGHT for this pin. I got to the parks at midnight, waited all night inside DCA(couldn't sleep) and walked in line across to
DL to about the Mark Twain, finally got my pin at about 9:30 AM. It was an exhausting but amazing experience. I will never forget it. So, I think that those of
us for whom this pin holds a lot of memory will not part with it. When it first came out I saw it for sale for about $250. But $650 is way outta range! But if
it's what the market will bear.... Glad I don't have to buy one.
