You do NOT have to be a part of the convention or organization to attend the roomhopping. I will personally have a room open on Tuesday night, Wednesday night, and Thursday night. Friday is Disneyland's birthday so we have chosen to not open our room but I know there will be others that do open their room on Friday and Saturday. If you do decide to come to roomhopping, try to keep in mind that other guests are the staying in the hotel so be aware of how much noise you make in the hallways.
