Disney Pin Rant |
Lead | |
|
Another month, and I have to say I'm disappointed by Disney. One of the last great Disney films before everything became Pixar (Don't get me wrong, I
like some of those movies they make!) but again they ignore Lion King. We got one 15th anniversary pin. That's it. Little Mermaid had her 15th, and there
were jumbo's, framed sets, lots of merchandise (I know, I worked in DL Stores at the time!!) Why the lacking for Lion King? Do they truly think there is no
one that likes this movie? One pin. I'm sadded to see a classic wasted away to that. I guess I'll have to be happy that we got a Lion King booster set
the same day! How about cutting back on the cuties and mystery sets, and make something more worth while that hasn't been over made to death! </end
rant!>

Do not hold back there
I liked the movie alot. I also think Disney needs to go towards new pins and stop making the same pins over and over again Holy Grails

i'll second that......or am I thirding that at this point.
However, i will caution.......be careful what you ask for. They may just come out with lots and lots of new pins that you'd feel obligated to buy...eh hem.....HM collectors? |

Unfortunately for anyone who collects less popular characters/themes, here is the math:
Two pins are sitting for sale on a rack at the park: Simba and Ariel Which pin sells? Ariel Two pins are sitting for sale on a rack at the park: Simba and Tink Which pin sells? Tink Two pins are sitting for sale on a rack at the park: Simba and Stitch Which pin sells? Stitch Therefore, which pin will they make more of? Not Simba (or insert-your-preferred-character-here). It's just the math. And any company that wants to stay in business will make the same decision. If you make two different kinds of widgets and widget A sells 500 units and widget B sells 5 units, which widget do you put your resources into making and selling if you want to stay in business? The widget that sells. Frankly, I'm amazed (and grateful) that any merchandise gets made by Disney of less popular characters - it's really a gift to the fans/collectors and I can't see a lot of other companies putting out merchandise knowing that there is a limited audience for it. But as noted above, at least you alternately aren't flooded with pins by collecting a less popular theme/character (see impoverished collectors of: HM, Pirates, Stitch, Jessica, etc.)

LK is by far Holly's favorite film and we have the collection to show for it...many books and frames...I am in a way glad they didnt go all out for it.
They are in a lose/lose situation...if they blow it out...like they are doing with mansion and to a certain extent the wya they did with LM (there were way too
many pins for that IMO) they get criticized for being greedy money grubbing fools...but if they make only a couple pins they get heat for that...I see what you
are saying though...and there was a second LK 15th pin...came from Europe and was LE 800 or 900

^ Wait wait wait!
Was that a laden sparrow or an unladen sparrow?! Daylight Savings Time or not? Don't forget to compensate! Also, was it molting? There are feather-ratios to consider!!! 'Twas brillig! Jabberwocky
