I will miss GWP Sundays because that was the best day for trading and when PTN and GWP Sunday is on the same day forget about it. That's the only reason I
will miss GWP Sundays. Never changed my spending habits. Most of the time I just got the pins off lanyards anyways. It is sad that they have to change
something that they've been doing for such a long time though. Oh well. Such is life.

I don't see how and why they would want to phase out pin trading to focus on pin buying. Pin trading is what makes people buy! They see cast walking around with lanyards full of pins, or they see someone trading, then their curiosity kicks in, they ask a few questions, and WHAM... new pin buyer / trader. If cast and guests don't walk around and pin trade, then who is going to buy? That would be the worst mistake ever!I agree that having CMs wearing lanyards is a good way for people to notice the pins, but I don't think the majority of tourists by a ton of pins and then become traders. Daily, fresh crops of thousands of tourists visit the parks and some of them buy pins. The established traders aren't there every day buying pins (oh that we could!), so Disney probably makes the most money on pins from the tourists. Well, we'll see what happens... Hannette |

karkura wrote:I had this happen the last few times I was at the park. Someone saw me trade with a cast member and they started asking questions about what pins could be traded with them. I don't know if it got that person to buy but I have seen in the past people talking to cast members about how they saw someone trading with a cast member and it got them interested so they bought a starter lanyard (the ones with two pins to keep and two to trade) and that got them started. Personally, it probably won't effect how much I spend but rather when I spend it. Like others have said, many times I put off purchases to wait until GWP Sunday to buy. Although there have been times were I bought extra pins to get over the minimum and then I traded those pins. Usually you can find them on lanyards and not have to spend the $25 but sometimes the ones on lanyards aren't always in the best condition. Plus they have been more stingy with the background cards and you can't get another one without spending another $25. I can imagine that once this goes away I will spend less on pins as I will just buy the ones I like and not figure out what to buy to get over the minimum. Doug |

GWP pins have never been a factor in our pin buying. It will not affect us in the least.
The ever increasing prices of the actual pins being released has made us cut back alot! We do not even purchase many of the Holidays pins anymore. We have been selective now also. Have to concentrate on one character or attraction at a time. This summer into the Fall will be HM and NBC. My other collections are hurting but this is how it has to be. Yvonne and Fred

while we didnt do mych buying to get GWP pins I think that 1st Sunday of the month which typically is a big day for trading...will see a significant drop
off...I can see the logic behind it in a way...trying to make DLR and WDW more uniform and perhaps its viewed as an unnecasary cost but I think there are a lot
of things that really cant be measured here...the biggest of which is how many purchases are made on a GWP sunday just because there are more traders in the
park? How many people only come out that one day a month and spend big money and may not now? Also...how many purchases are made just b/c the traders are
sitting outside and trade with people who arent really traders but go in a buy only because they saw the pins outside they wanted?

The saddest thing I have read here is no more "working day" pins. I feel the cast members who give up time with their families to spend it with all
of the "guest" at least deserve a pin for their collection!

wow...hadnt read that yet...what a shame...not that its the same for pin traders, but if they are truly turning to the uniform policy between WDW and
DLR...hopefully they will at least do a button or something. Like you said, the cm's that work that day deserve some kind of recognition

I think I'm invisible *lol* I said that back a while ago on this thread. Thanks for the compassion, Lou!! I've worked every holiday voluntarily for the
last two and a half years, partly because I want the pin! *lol* now I think I'm goign to start asking for holidays off if there isn't going to be a
working day pin anymore! Makes me sad. My dad has every working day pin from 2003 until now, we're both bummed that there won't be any more.

With all the chnages we have seen why would anyone be surprised??
WDW Changes: No more Surprise pins No more Spectacle of Pins Event (which was awesome!!!) No more Thursday Trading nights No more Satruday afternoons at Pop Century Lame lanyards...... Let's face it the person running pin trading has no interest...otherwise we would have had better lanyard pins, better event gifts, and MORE opportunities to trade. |

not sure "no interest" is accurate...just different ideas that aren't in line with our expectations
