some nice looking pins...clearly I think they need to release more vinylmation pins ;-) I thought the tribute to old releases were an April fools joke a while

Can't say next year's WDW pin event theme (or August date!) grabs my attention, but I love the Dateline Disneyland 55 logo - it's very retro and
SHAG-looking!
'Twas brillig! Jabberwocky

The only ones I remember were the chernabog (which means a new villains set Woo-Hoo!!), and the "this is not a pin" pin. I'm really overwhelmed by this past weekend. First pin event and for me it was amazing. I might talk more in the coming days, but for now I'm pretty burned out!

There was a Hidden Mickey that was round and green and simply had writing on it that read "This is not a pin!" There will also be a Scoop Hidden
Mickey pin.

This was a very nice and as someone has already said, "laid back" event. I never felt rushed or stressed. The lines for the boards were really nice
on friday. My wait was only averaging 15 minutes. It took a bit more time on saturday, like 30-40 minutes. Still not too bad. I didn't do it much though. I
got 2 of the watermelon and about 8 of the blue ribbon HM's. I'm going to use them as award pins for my cafeteria staff at school this fall. They love
getting my cute little pieces of metal. So I won't have any for trade.
I was able to get many of my Pooh wants off my list. I've already been busy adjusting my pipics. I helped friends get pins and they helped me get pins. It was just great. I did spend most of my time in the trading area. It was so not crowded. LOTS of room to move around and trade. My little plush Pooh even traded for some new Mini pins. That was fun! He got alot of attention. I sat with Sue Dewland and Lisa O'Malley and her daughter Meg. Sue's grandchildren were with her. They are a joy. And between her grandson Zac and Meg...they were God sends for me. My suitcase with pins weighed a ton!! And each of them helped me with it. Whew!! And Meg was our lunch hero!! She went and got us Pretzel bread and cheese soup "to go" each day for lunch!! YUM!! Something really cool happened just as I was packing up on saturday. This fella comes up and is admiring my suitcase. It is covered with classic drawings of Pooh and pals. I have the make up case and duffel bag that match. He asked me where I got it. So I told him. He continues to admire it and then he says, "I really enjoyed drawing these, and haven't seen these drawings in quite a while". It was Alex Maher, and he did the drawings that were on my suitcase!! So what did I do? I had him sign my suitcase!! Of course!! He was taken back by my request, but happily obliged and then took a picture with me and my suitcase. That was fun!! I did not go back for sunday. I wanted to, but I was so missing my hubby Fred. And I have a bad tooth that was quite painful that morning. So I came on back to Daytona, and got to hubby's job just in time to get a hug and say goodbye. He's a truck driver. The I came home and took care of me and my painful tooth. Gonna get that worked on this week. Then it's back to packing and continuing our move. But anyway, the event was wonderful and I'm so excited about the new vinylmation Pooh and matching pin. So cute! And the new lunch box pins, gotta have those. There is a beautiful Steamboat Willie pin that will come out the second day of the D23 event. And thankfully a pin fairy, Stephanie, is going to get it for me. YIPPEE!! Thank you!! I'm looking forward to next years event. I love the theme and I think it sounds like alot of fun. Hope to see many of you there!! Blessings, Winnie

It was a very nice event. There did not seem to be as many folks there as last year, but it was still quite full. And the AC was working just fine (yippee!).
I did good trading for friends and a few very nice friends were good enough to get Figment APs off the boards for me. Mostly, it was just super to be able to see Kellybean (nice surprise!), Jes, Shell, Kay and Simon, Terry, Winnie, George, Barbara, and lots more familiar faces. and to meet Arthur, Anne, Susan, Dawn, Steph, Cody, Margaret, and plenty others, too! Looking forward to next year!! EBeth |

August is too hot, too humid, height of hurricane season - ugh. I don't expect we will be there next year.
All in all a good event. One "advanced trader" took advantage of DH while I was not at the table and I was a bit steamed over that but them's the breaks. Overall we had tons of fun, did probably 1,000 trades and had a great time. Looking forward to doing some trading at DLR next month.

I'm glad to hear they are considering holding an event after the seasonal passholder blackout dates for the summer expire. There are lots of things that go
on during the summer that we can't even consider attending since our dates are blacked out. I realize that some of it is just the price we pay for having
the "cheaper" (relatively speaking) passes but it would seem like these kinds of big pin events would be something where it would benefit Disney to
have more locals able to attend.

I agree that it should not be when locals are "blacked out", so how about SEPTEMBER??? My big gripe is that the crowds were much larger than in
September so I did not get to enjoy as much of the parks. We had a great time at the event and will probably attend next year. It will be hard to top all the
great pins that were released this year, much better than PTU in my opinion. I loved the special hidden mickey pins, since I have no desire to collect AP
pins, they were very easy to find...

I was just curious as to when the normal August blackout periods are?

Our family also thought that this event was the smoothest and easiest going that we've ever been to! So, we're glad to hear that many others felt
the same. We were kind of leery about the quality of the event with so many Event Services and other Disney managers laid off in recent months, but we were
completely amazed at how quick and easy everything went! It purely showed the talent and hard work of Steven Miller, Jim Matthews, and all of the other Event
Services and event cast member workers. As far as the pins found on the boards, the lines, the atmosphere, props, the games/trivia...this event was our
favorite by far!

Anyone interested in some 'live' footage of 'Scoop Sanderson's 'Pin Chat' with Steven Miller at MOP should have a listen to the
enhanced podcast version of the the Disney Pincast episode 67 (just released) on ITunes.
It can also be found here: The Disney Pincast There are some pics of the presentation screen in the podcast, some of the 2010 pins can be seen. |
