Hi,
I just returned from WDW and it was incredibly hard to tell the fake pins apart from the real ones, but this I know to be a fact. The alphabet pins are all slighly different in size, so this is nothing to worry about. However, I have an M that is stamped with the sunburst logo, and has a totally different backround shade of red than the originals. I have had the entire alphabet from the start, and every extra M I have encountered has been the same as the first one I got, with the exception of the new sunburst logo one I got last week. By the way, when I say totally different in color, I mean it is a bright orange red, and not a dark red. I have also noticed that some of the colors, while being pretty close to the original pins, are slighly lighter or darker, or even a few shades off. A cast member told me that sometimes this happens in production. She also told me to rub your hand across the front of the pin to see if it is smooth. She said the fake ones have indentations in them. Hope this helps. I am still having a hard time figuring these out.
