As the MOP event was winding down, Steven Miller announced the title of next year's big pin event at WDW.
Pin traders can start planning to attend Trade City in 2010.
A weekend has not been chosen yet for Trade City, so maybe we should make some suggestions? We can set up a poll later.
I'll start it off & suggest the first weekend in November. Florida's weather is ideal at that time of year, & there is an opening in the very
busy WDW calendar because Super Soap Weekend will be discontinued.

From what Steven mentioned during MOP and by what was posted on the Blog, it seems we can expect Trade City to occur in the month of August but AFTER the blackout period for seasonal passholders. ISO: SHAG Vinylmations, will trade pins. Vinyls: So Ugly they cute! |

I am just throwing this out there  But, how about a August Event with a 2010 Cruise Event for Halloween on the Wonder, or maybe a
HAUNTED SAILING perhaps Ok, I can dream, I have been trying to make this happen since the beginning Gotta keep trying
So cool , so many many options OR maybe one in the Spring 2010
There are some different itineraries maybe????? Ok, I am done I would love a cooler month if that is an open option???? Or maybe at the beginning of June before blackout dates????

I don't know why they don't just do it around the 10/10/10 date and make it one big 10th anniversary pin trading event instead of an August event and
then an October day-long event.

I think the reason is they won't have the World Showcase if they do it in October. That's smack in the middle of Food and Wine, and they use the room
for dinner events every weekend.
I don't know of any other indoor facility within the parks, and you know they won't do it in the resorts themselves because then they can't get folks to pay to go to the parks. They're not going to do it in November because it's too close to Holiday time and the Imagineers would be too busy getting ready for that. I don't understand why August though and why not early Sept (possibly labor day weekend?) BEFORE food and wine. Has Sept. been a problem in the past? My mom is not happy with the date because school is back late August in Florida, but not elsewhere in the country. Which could be the other reason to have it in August... try to pick up a few families before the kiddies go back to school.

My last year of High school we started band camp Jul 26 so I know I was in school in Aug. That wouldn't have helped me.

September is when the D23 Expo is happening. They probably don't want to conflict with that if it's staying in that slot next year as well.

Depending on when the blackout date ends. August would be good for me. School staff doesn't have to be back until the middle of the month so it actually
could work out.

Why combine 2 pin activities together when they can get pin traders to make 2 visits to WDW with 2 sets of reservations? 10/10/2010 is a Sunday in the middle of Epcot's Food & Wine Festival. The building (where MOP was held) hosts Food & Wine Fest special events, so it probably won't be available for pin trading activities. |

Food and Wine is from September 25th to November 8th - that rules out that time frame. I'm not sure when Holiday's around the World begins, but likely mid November. Now they may not use the building for Holiday's around the world (then again they may use it for staging) but the people will be real busy going from one celebration to the other. I'm thinking it looks like August, or maybe never.

Trade City 2010 could be held at Disney's Hollywood Studios (aka MGM to most of us). The final ABC Super Soap Weekend was held at Hollywood Studios November 15-16, 2008. Now there's a calendar opening for another event in mid-November. |

I am an accountant so the first week of the month I'm not able to travel. This year would have been great except I couldn't afford both events (I was
already doing DLR event). I would love to attend this next year. Perhaps they could do it mid-late August or Mid September before the Food and Wine Festival.
We're going to WDW this September staying long enough to catch 2 days of Food and Wine Festival. Perhaps people would extend their trips and stay for the
Festival, too, if they timed it right. Just thinking out loud.

If you think June at WDW was hot, wait until August. Rain everyday and hotter than hades. But I understand the reasoning behind it, since most kids aren't
in school yet and can come with their parents. But I would vote for October or November (end of hurricane season). It's cooler and the weather is better.

From what I remember: Trade City is to happen in August 2010. October 1st 2009 was/is supposed to
be a "kick-off" type 10th anniversary event (probably similar to the DLR summer "kick-offs"). Oct. 10, 2010 was supposed to be the 10
hours of trading. Nowas to location, they could always hold all or any of these in a resort ballroom especially if tickets are limited to a smaller number of
guests. Or they could have 2 rooms, one for seating (person to person trading) and another for activities/boards (CM/board to person trading).

Yeah... but for an event where they want people to pay to get in, would they really put it in a hotel? I mean, they could totally do it in the Grand Floridian
convention center, but don't they want people to pay to get into the park?

The Everest Event was held for the most part in a ballroom. We only went into the park for dinner, some rides, activities, characters and socializing. I can not speak for other events in the past. As long as it's held on property your for the most part captive and will spend money there. ISO: SHAG Vinylmations, will trade pins. Vinyls: So Ugly they cute! |

You are correct.... Really the only event held in the parks is the "September"/Epcot Event... All the DAK events were in ballrooms, then at the
park at night for like maybe 3 hours...
