We get to choose our own topic... which i of course decided to do on disney! :] I narrowed it down to answering this question in the essay. "How did Disney's imagineering team design and build/construct Disneylands Magic Kingdom?" unfortanently my teacher said that the question is still to "big"... meaning that asnwer can go on forever! LOL (hes a disney fanatic) I need to narrow it down alittle more! If anyone could help me that would be soooo helpful! and also if anyone has any resources of places i can get information (books, websites, you maybe) that would also help a lot! Thanks so much guys! If your teacher said what you picked is too broad a topic, why not narrow it down to what interests you most? How about picking your favorite attraction at one of the parks and researching it specifically? Along with google, you might want to check amazon.com for books on how the parks/rides/attractions were built. And don't forget your local library - libraries are there to help you research! I'd recommend either the Castle, the Pirates of the Carribean, or the Haunted Mansion for attractions. Another idea maybe the reconstruction of the severly dated Tomorrowland in the late '90s. Randy Google may be your friend...but Wikipedia is the enemy! I got told when I was at University to stay away from there when doing essays. As the info is put up by anyone and at times there is no conformation behind what they are saying. I definately agree with this. I would add though that Main St. USA and/or the Railroad would be interesting. I also want to say I agree with this Google may be your friend...but Wikipedia is the enemy! I got told when I was at University to stay away from there when doing essays. Just a little tip Even my children who are grade school have been told to stay away from Wikipedia for their reports. Being the disney geek that I am, I would also say that there is no Magic Kingdom at Disneyland. There is Disneyland and then there is the Magic Kingdom (which is in Florida at WDW). I would pick a fun attraction that really was innovative at the time and go into that. Haunted Mansion and Tiki Room seem like they would be fun to me.

I'm not a fan of those, but I feel your pain. I would narrow it down to either one specific area of Magic Kingdom, or one attraction. Also, don't depend only on the internet. My professors last semester always said we could only have one internet (www) resource. But most schools have a database that you can go into online and look for newspaper and magazine articles and then cite them as such. Hope your paper goes well! That could help give an idea of how far you need to narrow it down. For example, if it only has to be 10 pages then you could just talk about how Walt designed WDW Magic Kingdom vs. DLR Magic Kingdom. Like how he secretly bought up all the surrounding land so that he could prevent other business moving in too close to capitalize off the draw of the park and how he wanted the monorail to be a transition period from the parking lot to a whole new world. "Forced Perception" is the construction of buildings to give the illusion that they are taller or streets are longer then they actually are.
