I'm going to add an additional contact here, because it is my experience that the corporate secretary is the best contact to get letters in the right
hands.

Oh wow! This is so terrible. Timm is so cool and nice! It seems as though he really cares about pins and pin collectors. I am really shocked and upset. I was
looking forward to talking to him about the Haunted Mansion events this summer.
I don't know what Disney expects to accomplish with this. I don't understand how Disneyland intends to operate everything having to do with pins without him. This is insanity! |

I am really disappointed by this decision! We have met Timm several times and he's great! What on earth is Disney thinking? He will truly be missed!

Not just Timm | ||

My understanding from some discussions in the park this morning is that the entire Product Development Team was let go, not just Timm. Everything will be run out of Florida. |

Although we are very saddened and our hearts go out to Timm, Darlene, and each and every one of the other cast members who have lost their jobs during the
company's restructuring, we can't help but also feel bad for others as well - those who are keeping their positions. Particularly, Steven Miller,
another great Pinambassador. Assuming (which isn't always correct) that he will be keeping his job status, he will be faced with a
heavy burden on his shoulders...trying to please and answer to those upset over CA Timm's dismissal and well as those alarmed at Darlene's dismissal as
well. Sometimes, that's just as difficult as actually losing your own job! In the past few years attending the Epcot pin events, we've been
pleasantly surprised at how well he (and the majority of Event Services) handles these huge events and puts a little bit of himself into each
thing. No doubt, the same that Disneyland people can say for Timm. In light of these recent events, this just makes the June MOP event even more potentially
uncomfortable. First the event month change, and now this. We owe it to Steven Miller to give him our full support and hopes that he will keep pin trading a
fun and exciting hobby, as well as fix things that have been a down-turn for pin trading lately.

Hmmn, just went to What's happining blog. Short entry today about the next PTN at MK, nothing else. Interesting. This would be the ideal venue to let the
west coast pin traders know what is happening and provide some reassurance. Are they hoping everything will just blow over?
Maybe in the past, Disney, but not in the era of the internet. If you don't get out there FAST and let your DLR customers know what is happening the speculation will take over and drown out any 'official' announcement you might make five our six days from now. Joette, thank you for the additional addresses, I'll add them to my list.

When it comes to the internal functions of Disney, you will never hear what is going on until they are good and ready, and certainly not on an official site.
Disney's press sites do not mention layoffs, for instance.
We've know Disney was looking into this since December. I had a friend who applied for a job she would've gotten no problem in good times. She was told it was given to someone else "officially". She was told by another friend "unofficially" that the position was frozen because they were getting ready to do layoffs. But Disney has quietly swept out managers before as a cost cutting measure without saying anything.

From the Orlando Sentinel today. Again, not an exact science, and I have little love for Goldman Sach's predictions, but it gives you some idea of what
Disney is looking at.

From the Orlando Sentinel today. I'll refrain on my personal opinion of this media outlet.
I do believe Disney is/was bracing for things to be slow, but so far, has not materialized as people expected. Or not as bad as forcasted. To put this back on the original subject of Timm. Again, a great loss to the Disney company and our pin trading commuinity. Keep those letters coming to both coasts!! It might not make a difference, but we can be heard.

this is what I got from guest services; I had not asked for discussion of personnel matters:
Unfortunately, due to our company's privacy policy, we are not able to discuss personnel matters regarding individuals who were employed by The Walt Disney Company with third parties. Again, thank you for contacting us. Comments such as yours are welcomed in that they assist us in evaluating our operation and our success in generating happiness for our Guests. We hope you will have the opportunity to visit the DISNEYLAND® Resort soon and that our attractions and entertainment will delight you in every way." |

These letters by nature are personal because they have to do with specific people that you know and love. Legally, they just can't speak to the elimination of certain people, only the positions and organization in general. |

Park Attendance vs. guest spending | ||
|
I don't think park attendance is what they are looking at in terms of profit. Disney looks at how much each person spend when they go. If you take the
survey they ask about at the exit at Disneyland, they specifically ask how much you spent on souvenirs, on food, and on entrance. If you got a free ticket for
your birthday, they REALLY want you to come in and spend some money. When I worked at Disneyland in stores years ago, the focus was on keeping it magical, but
also on EVERYONE buying souvenirs. When I worked at the Disney store, it was all about turning lookers into buyers. So I also take notice as I sit around the
park, and hardly anyone has shopping bags anymore, and the majority of those who do have very small bags. I would like to also do the same when I go to WDW,
but there you can ship it back to the hotels, so I will just look at how many people are in line buying in the stores, and if their bags or arms are full of
merchandise. I think the turndown is really in per capita spending by each guest, not in park attendance. Another factor to look at is hotel attendance, and
though we can't tell, it'd be interesting to know of those who do go, how many are actually paying rack rate, or how many are going on the deals they
keep offering.

OMG!!! Timm is the absolute SWEETEST person! He is a true PINthusiast! He was a great asset to DLR and their pin trading program.
He was a fantastic CM, with a great sense of humour (we always joked that he planned PTNs either the week before or the week after I was in DLR on purpose), who remembered almost every pin trader he met (he recognized me year after year...and mom too.) To say letting Timm go was an injustice is putting it lightly!
