We just made a trade for 5 of them and they arrived in today's mail. Some have awful paint jobs - paint dips, paint holes, crummy messy backstamps, blotchy gold paint on the back, etc. However, none of them had the typical "lines" in the paint or "rough" gold edges. So we turned back to Pinpics and looked at them again....We found it so odd that no one has posted the Sku, price, etc and we've had no luck searching for these on ODPT.com. We checked Ebay and they seem to be everywhere dirt cheap. Lastly, we tried checking out who was listed as trading these pins and none of the usual NYC pin traders we know are trading them. So our question is: Has anyone actually purchased these at the WOD NYC Store? And if so, could you please post a picture of the back of one of the pins? We hate to jump the gun on these types of things, but if these are not actual "Disney" pins, we wished they'd be marked as unauthorized to save the hassle and shipping costs for trading for them. While we're on the question of ACTUAL pin authenticity, has anyone ever seen this pin for sale in the parks or anything?: Pin 68907: Mickey Mouse - Si! Hablo Espanol Again, another pin that we can't find on ODPT, no SKU number listed, and there is a ton of these on Ebay... How depressing, lol.... Any help is much appreciative!! Thanks! I asked before I agreed to the trade, where they got the pin from. I was told from a manager friend who works at the NYC WOD. I was also told it was not picked off a lanyard. I received the pin, and the quality is OK. Not like you are describing. But, after seeing the pin, I question it's authenticity. I have some of the others on my want list, and get the most outrageous offers wanting my low LEs for them. I refuse to trade for any more, until it can be verified where these pins are actually coming from. In my opinion and my opinion only, I think they are fakes. Okay, after reading your responses, we had a notion to just call the NYC WOD Disney Store and ask if them if they had these in stock or ever remember carrying them. The answer we got didn't surprise us... When we called, we simply asked the cast member to check to see if they still had these in stock. (Not letting on our premonition that they were scrappers.) We described them in detail and told her what characters were in the set. She put us on hold and said she'd go look on the store's pin shelves. After being on hold for a good 5-10 minutes, she came back on the phone and asked where we had heard about these. We simply told to her that we had traded for some of them and we are looking to complete the set. Then she apologized and said that there was nothing of the sort in the store and no other cast members around her had ever heard of these! She seemed very knowledgable and even went as far to say that she'd never even seen them in 2008 (which is the ODPT backstamp year). She sincerely apologized and said they believe these to be bootlegs. So, we think this just confirms it - right? Should these now be marked "unauthorized" on Pinpics? Our Trades

We're not in any way trying to accuse the store you purchased your NYC and Espanol pins from as selling "non-official Disney" merchandise, but we're just curious as to where members are actually finding these outlet stores at. To explain why we're asking: We just returned back from a vacation at WDW. While we were down there, we heard several pin traders remark that they've found a couple "Disney Outlet Stores" around the Orlando area that are actually NOT owned by Disney, but are starting to sell "Disney" pins. When we asked which pins that they were selling, they stated that they saw lots of 2000 Millenium Dancer Pins and Disney Store pins (some 12 Months of Disney Magic series pins and some 100 Years of Dreams series pins). Curiously, we asked them how much the stores were charging for the pins. They respond: $1.00 a pin! Funny, we noticed a lot of 12 Months of Disney Magic pins on cast member's lanyards while we were in the parks, but they were mostly scrappers! We're sensing something is not right here. Could it be that some of the FL souvenier shops ("Disney Outlet Stores" as they try to call themselves) are catching on to the scrapper market and starting to sell them in their stores?? Ahg! As for the NYC Broadway pins, they were still all over cast member's lanyards in September at WDW. And on Ebay, we see that they are still rampant and selling for ridiculously low Buy It Now prices and such. Some things are still really fishy about these pins. And these don't seem to be the only pins that have raised eyebrows. Another pin comes to mind: Pin 66350: Disney Gallery - Animation Gallery Dumbo - Cel Pin. Thanks so much in advance...

Yes, it was an official Disney Outlet. edited....to correct store name "Disney's Character Warehouse" It was located at the Ellenton Outlet Mall in Palmetto FL. The pin selection was very small (compared to the Official Disney Outlet in Miromar Outlet Mall in Estero FL...They have a NICE selection of merchandise there especially pins!...but a bit of a drive for me). Yes, they were sold on official black card backs...If my memory serves me, I think they placed a discounted sticker over the original one... I think the price was $3.99....I don't think I have any more (as I only bought a few and used them as traders)...I'll look and if I find any with their cards still intact, I will re-post. And I think they had some of the other Broadway characters (not clear which ones, as I thought they weren't that cute, so I didn't buy them). The Disney Outlet in Estero had a much better selection... Guess that's why the Ellenton one didn't last...edited to correct info...I just called them, and the Ellenton Outlet DCW moved...On my last trip I went to where they used to be and they were not there and no "we've moved" sign... Fair enough - I don't know anything about the East Coast outlet stores and I've only seen authorized pins on Disney backer cards at the West Coast outlets. The reason the Gallery pin stuck in my mind is I've noticed one seller on ebay has been regularly selling another Gallery pin that has not yet been listed on PinPics as being scrappered, but they've easily sold ten of them in the past few weeks and have more for sale and I've been wondering where they got so many of that pin all of a sudden. The pin is being sold without the accompanying litho, and I was just wondering if perhaps it had turned up at an outlet or something. Still puzzling none the less, but at least there's an awareness regarding these now. We happened to come across the phone number (239-495-0087) on the internet for the official-Disney Outlet Store in Estero and gave them a call to see what pins they currently had in stock. The cast member we spoke with gave us a run-down on what they had in the store and it sounded exactly like what the 2 Official-Disney Outlets in Orlando ("Disney Character Warehouse" on International Drive and "Disney's Character Premiere" on Vine) currently have. Nothing out of the ordinary there. We asked if they currently have/or did have any Animation Gallery pins or the NYC Broadway pins and we described them to her. She told us that she's never even heard of or seen those pins. She also asked around to the other cast members and they said the same, no one knew of them ever being sold in their store. Being that the cast member was so nice and seemed pretty knowledgeable, we decided to press our luck and ask about that other outlet store mentioned in Palmetto. The cast member said that the Palmetto outlet store was actually not owned by Disney. She went on to say that the Palmetto store DID sell some merchandise that was also available at the official-Disney outlets, BUT the Pamletto store was "in no way owned or affiliated with Disney". She then added that the Palmetto store was "not allowed to sell any official Disney pins". We have never asked Steven Miller about any of these. Jabberwocky, it's a great idea! Perhaps at the next PTN or major pin release, someone would be willing to ask him. Maybe even print out photos of the pins and show him. If he doesn't know right off hand, perhaps he'd be willing to look into it and get back with an answer. Also, there's another pin team member who might know something about these. Her name is Julie Young, we see her at every Epcot pin event. She's in charge of "open-edition pins only" for WDW/NYC/Etc. Every time we have a question for her, she seems to always have an answer - or she's at least willing to find out. We have no idea how to get a hold of her to ask (until the next pin event), but if someone out there does it might bring some answers. I remember reading about their upcoming release on this site. See: http://www.dizpins.com/archives/2008/2008november_3.htm (you have to scroll down to Sunday, Nov. 16th). I live in NY and made a few trips to WOD looking for these pins, as I'm a big Broadway fan (even though I don't really think most really even seem Broadway-related), but they never showed up. I ended up getting them on ebay, figuring I had just missed their release somehow. So if people are seeing them in outlets, one could assume that maybe they cancelled their release and shipped them right to the outlets. Which makes some sense to me, as I said, I don't really see what a lot of the pins even have to do with Broadway and was a bit disappointed with their design. That said, my pins seem to be in good condition, just not anything special. I just called them and they said that they are a liquidator of Disney Theme Park merchandise and they do have pins... I asked them where they got their pins from, and they said from the Parks. I will try to get there tomorrow, as she said they just got pins in... Really confused now, bout this pin stuff!!!...
