What would you do? |

I posted this yesterday, but somehow, yuku lost my post. On Saturday, my wife and I were at the annual American Girl warehouse charity sale. We purchased some
things for our daughters, including one of the historical dolls. When we got home, my wife and I were discussing how much I had spent and the total seemed too
low. So, I went and got the receipt and they did not charge me for the doll.
What would you do in this situation? (Total Votes: 55) - ClosedContact them, let them know about the mistake, and pay for it. (40 / 72.7%) Woo Hoo! A free American Girl doll. (8 / 14.5%) What is an American Girl doll? (7 / 12.7%) |

An American Girl doll is expensive. This was all for charity. I would not think twice about calling them
and telling them the mistake.

I've had a similar experience. When I called to inform them the store's position was that since it was their mistake the item was ours free and clear -
but thanks for the call. This must be why these dolls cost so much to begin with... LOL! My two percent of a dollar is... make the attempt.

I'd call so that way whatever charity was supposed to profit from this profitted. The money is going to a good cause so it's only the right thing to
do. And if they make the "Our mistake your luck" type of a comment, then I'd find out where and how you can make a direct donation to the same
charity.

Karma...what goes around comes around. Please contact them and advise them of the mistake. Whatever happens from there, you've done the right thing.

I did call on Monday and left a voice mail for the person that was in charge, but have not heard back yet. I will try and give the person a call latter in the
week. I was just curious what other people's opinions were.

To be honest if it wasn't for charity I would have chosen #2 but chose #1 because it was for a good cause

Yesterday I received a call from the person that runs the sell. She said that it was nice that someone was calling to do the right thing, when they could have
just done nothing. She said it was an encouragement, because she had been receiving a lot of calls of people calling and complaining to get $5 back. She gave
me the info to send a payment and I will mail out a check.

Hands down I would call and try to pay for it. It's for charity and you don't want them to be out money just so you can have a free doll. You were
willing to help out in the first place, that's why you purchased the doll, so your heart was in the right place. Keep it there and tell them. Even if it
wasn't for charity, taking advantage of this can lead to so many other things. The person that made the mistake can be fired. And that might make you feel
even worse.
Do the right thing. Call them. If they say don't worry it's yours, well then at least you tried Email: Udan626@gmail.com
