Sarcastic responses based on the perception of the trade weight and so on. I have received some TA's that may not be "equal" but I ALWAYS respond in a civil and polite manner "no thanks". Sometimes Traders will make a trade for a character of a "less" value pin since they are looking for it, it is an old pin, or for whatever other reasons - it does not hurt to ASK!! This is a Hobby, so I think some folks should lighten up and remember their manners - we are not trading precious jewlels here!! Mike S.

Even when, for example, the same person has made the same trade request 3 times in 3 days, of a recent open edition pin for my LE 300 WDI pin. I tried to trade some "unequal" pins. One person responded through the trading assistant kind of snotty about the "value" of my pin. I e-mailed back that I was new to pin trading and she gave me a quite extensive reply that helped me to understand what was equal to what. So, I have always been nice in my replies, not knowing if the request to trade came from a "newbie" as I once was.

I try hard to make sure I answer all requests (they are all usually for the same pin) but sometimes they slip through. I have only sent one trade request for fear of offending someone. I do get a little annoyed when someone sends me a trade request and I respond to it only to never hear from that person again. Wants List Trades List

Welllll....lol I always give people who are offering very unbalanced trades (in their favor) the benefit of the doubt--I am polite and just say no thanks. Recently, just as an experiment of sorts, I decided I would try to make a counter-offer that I thought was very fair to a very unfair pin trade I had received. The pin I counter-offered was an exact LE number as the pin they were asking from me, similar in trade/want ratios and even released around the same year. I got no reply. humming "Jaws" theme I also got a big lecture from someone once (on a trade offer I had sent out) about how THEIR pin was worth WAY more than mine, based on the fact that their pin was selling for a LOT more $$$$$ than mine on e-Bay, which is how "EVERYONE" bases their trades. Reaaaaaaaaly. I would've rather just not gotten any reply from that one... Anyway, I just say "no thanks" if I'm not interested in a pin trade. Hannette

In my attempt to limit the requests, I removed some of my "good" traders from my traders. When I still couldn't keep up, I just turned off my TA and haven't turned it back on. Maybe soon I'll get to turn it back on. I sure hope I haven't offended anyone with either an offer or a reply.

I still can't find the unfair part... all pins involved were LE 1000 and have similiar wants/trades... but apparently it was very unfair... ... but I ended up getting one of the pins I had asked for off the 'bay later in the day for less than retail so I guess the trade would have been unfair for me... I also got a TA this week that was grossly unfair for the other person... (an LE 300 for a rack pin)... I countered with a fairer offer and we ended up trading anyway. Many of my hard to get wants were older rack pins. I'd offer low le's, cm excl. pins, wdi and sometimes not hear a thing. So sometimes when you get a lopsided offer in your favor it might just mean that trader really wants that pin. Who knows how many "even" trades they sent out with no takers. I'm not very good at responding, I do try to send a "Thanks for they offer, but no thanks" sometimes I just get busy in the morning and don't get to it. To all who ever sent a TA to me and didnt' get a reply, I apologize. Dawn
