this is the only distribution center for Disney in the USA. All of the items from Disney.com are shipped out of this facility. They sell to the public on occasion, but pickings have been pretty slim for a long time. They usually sell the mis-spelled personalized stuff here, for pennies... and the occasional broken or damaged item, but also on occasion they have pins. Most the pins I sell in my store are from this outlet, except for some of the older Cast member award pins that I have purchased on-line. I just happened to get lucky to find this one Tinker Bell pin...

As for $50, the way Disney Auctions worked, is that they would introduce a pin as an auction: knowing ahead of time how many were going to be made available, the bidders would bid for the right to buy one.... this one got bid up to $50, but apparently got lost or mis-placed and none were ever sent to the winning bidders.
So, I would think it would be worth a LOT more than $50. Some of the Disney Masterpiece pins actually had 100 hit the market, and they are selling for $300-$400 each! This tink pin is from 2006, and there is no way to know how many are actually out there... but you are right, it may be a difficult trade.
