Dizpins Ohana Member Posts: 55 (05/06/08 09:44 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	I have had a terrible time over the last three weeks and have decided to call it a day with my Pin trading as it seems to be that it feels like work not fun anymore ! I have had my computer die on me more than two weeks ago and this coincided with a large pin trade not getting to it's destination I trade more than 15 lbe's every week and my collection of nearly 4000 pins has been built on many great trades. I live in the UK, so tracking pins is an expensive game ! I ended up getting a complaint for the trade that didn't get there and due to the lack of access (I could only get this from my phone and was far from great!) I ended up having my account suspended by the Mods, which I can totally understand. I managed to get some replacement pins out and the complaint is now with drawn but this has ruined my concept of pin trading and it is with a very heavy heart that I am calling it a day ! Most of the last three years I have been thinking about pins when I went to sleep and when I woke up it was the first thing on my mind but I shall stop now I have reached my 4000 pin goal I just don't see the point any more To all the great people I have traded with over the last three years I really want to thank you. I have nearly 800 pins as traders and will have to decide what to do with. My first thought is to use them when I get to the parks, my second is to zapp people with whom I had great trades ! It usually results in taking a step back and a break for a while. It is interesting to watch those who drop from the radar and then return to enjoy the hobby again. Sounds like burn-out to me. I do hope you will step back for a bit and enjoy other pleasures in life and who knows, you might come back to trading with a new outlook. I do have to say, I've all but stopped trading via mail/email unless it's with someone I really know (via board chats or personal relationships). It can be rough when you know you've sent it but, they say nothing has arrived. Especially when you're in another country, I'm in Canada and our post doesn't quite work the same as the States. I have to agree with others and say it sounds like you are suffering from pin trading burn-out. I know I don't enjoy the hobby of pin collecting very much when I start thinking about it 24/7. Once in awhile I will feel the need to step away from the computer and not trade or visit the boards for a period of time and then when I'm ready to join the community again things seem a little better. Hope to see you back in the pin trading community soon, but until then take care.

I'm sorry that you're leaving trading, but I do agree that it is the right decision for you, especially if the hobby no longer is fun for you. It does sound like you're hitting burn out (it happens to many of us) and a break from trading may be a very good thing for you. I hope you'll consider rejoining the pin trading community should you feel differently after being away from pins for a while. Until then, take care! Stefanie

My parents passed away early this year and I had several trades going. It was a challenge to keep up my commitments with trades and with all that I had to deal with. Stuff happens to each of us and I am thankful that those whom I was trading with was very understanding. Take some time off, come back when your ready and take care. Life is too short. Pins should not be work unless it is your source of income. 15 LBE's a week does sound like a lot of work. Having thoughts of pins consume your daily thoughts is a good indication that you have been in it too seriously. So... take this time to stop and rethink WHAT it was that you enjoyed in pin trading. Not the obsessive activities, but the things that you really enjoyed. IF you ever decide to come back, I strongly suggest that you do so with a different approach, otherwise "burn out" will inevitably happen again. Thanks for sharing your experience. I know there are many many people that have been or are in the same boat you are in right now. People quiting pin trading happens all the time. The ones that know how to adjust their approach and keep a healthy balance between obsession and enjoyment are the ones that have longevity in the hobby and are able to get the most enjoyment out of it.
