I now have a new stereo in my truck ( since someone decide to steal my last ) It has an Ipod hook up on it. I have a zen. I love my zen but it wont hook up to
my stereo. I have been searching on the bay and retailers at Ipod. They are not cheap even broke they cost have new. Does any one know of a good way to get a
cheap Ipod to put in my truck? It does not need a screen cause the truck has that. Thank you for any help.

The only ones without screens that usually are cheap are the shuffles, or I believe the discontinued Nano... I'm not entirely sure, but the smaller will
definately have less space

Well, the iPod Shuffle is $49 new now. If you want a bigger one, the Apple store online has a refurb section. They come with the full warranty. I've
purchased a few computers and one iPod through the refurb store without any issues. Go to www.apple.com/store. In the lower left corner is a link to the
refurbished iPod store. Enjoy.

I will second the refurb option from Apple. I purchased bot mine and my wife's like that and it has the same warranty as a brand new one for a lower price.

The Nano is not discontinued, it was recently updated to allow playback of videos. It is the MINI that is discontinued. I would not reccomend a Shuffle (eventhough it is the least expensive) if you are going to play it in your truck as it does not have a dock connector as all other iPods do. The most economical one to get that you can use in your truck is the iPod Nano. As some have mentioned already, one of the best places to get one is through the Apple Store refurbed section. All Apple products that are "refurbished" go through a strigent check to ensure proper working order before putting it back for sale at a great discount. I've purchased a MacBook and a MacBook Pro through the refurbed section and not only got a great deal on them but they work just as well as a brand new one. Since the Apple Store does not have any of the previous generation Nanos for sale anymore, your best value would be to get the 4GB one. They don't make the 2GB anymore unless you can find a previous generation of the Nano (the one that looks like a stick of gum). Your best bet for that would be to search on your local Craigslist for one. If you can find one of those you should be able to get an even better discount than the current 4GB one at the refurbed store. A caveat with Craigslist though as anyone who uses it should know, always look for a local deal and never send money to someone hoping that they will send you the iPod, cuz chances are it won't happen. Hope this helps!

I'd like to put in a good word for the ipod Classic. While it is pretty expensive for a toy (I paid $379 for the 160 GB) I find it well worth the price for
the amount it holds.
I have my entire CD collection on there, about 200 movies (all converted from my private collection) and photographs as well. I've still not filled it up completely. The nice thing is that when I travel I used to take a portable 8" DVD player with me which was cumbersome and I could only take about 25 CD's in the carry case. It also went as a piece of carry on luggage. With my ipod I can take my entire collection of music with me as well as a good portion of movies and tuck it all away in my handbag and it goes everywhere I want it to go! Heck...I was off in Mexico deep sea fishing with the BFF and didn't want to throw a line in the water...I pulled out my handy dandy ipod and was able to watch not only movies, but TV shows I've converted as well. I wouldn't leave home without it! ~* Noreen*~

Thats why I'm waiting for an expanded capacity, iPod Touch! The iPod Classic is great, lots of storage space, no matter which one you choose, but for me, I
like to watch my movies on a little bigger screen than the one on the iPod Classic. Right now the largest capacity is 32GB, I'm waiting for a 64GB one to
come out before I seriously consider it. So for now, I'm holding out with my generation 2 iPod Nano which works for me because I watch my movies and TV
shows on my MacBook Pro and iMac at home.

Thank you all for your help. I do have to ask something else. I heard you have to pay for Itunes to be able to but your music on to a Ipod is this true? I
like that my Zen will take any format that I have there is no converting it. The sad thing is my 30gb is full and I have 90% music and only a few vid on it.

No you don't have to pay anything to put your music on to iTunes. Just download the program from the Apple website for free, and then when you get it up
and running, it will ask you if you want it search your computer for music, then you select yes. You must import your music into iTunes before you can transfer
it onto the iPod. If you have music that is not in a format that is compatible with iTunes, then you must convert it first...iTunes may do that for you, but
I'm not quite sure. WMA files are an example of one that is not compatible with iPods yet. Apple has their own version, called AAC, but I would convert all
your music files to MP3 since that is the universal standard that is compatible with iPod, Zen, Zune, or any other digital music player out there.

You might check Ebay or even the Apple Re-furbs for older versions. I have a 4th generation 20gb. I've had it for 5 years now and I just can't bring
myself to upgrade. It's like my little baby or something! You might be able to find one for cheap since everyone seems to want the new ones.
As for the iTunes thing, I think I've bought a grand total of 3 songs from there. All my music is free! Oh great, I did it again. I posted on the wrong screen name. My other one is Goofygirl18.

Don't worry, Ashley, we know who you are
Besides, you have your logo on this username anyways!
How come you use 2 usernames? Do you post on a different forum or something? As for buying older iPods from the Apple refurbed store, you can't, they only offer refurbs of the current generation of iPods now. If you want a cheaper iPod of a style that is discontinued like the iPod Mini, then I would recommend Craiglist before eBay because at least you'd get to test it out in person before buying. Buying an iPod unseen and tested, I'd only trust enough to buy from the Apple refurbed store, never from eBay.

How come you use 2 usernames? Do you post on a different forum or something?Yeah I post on lots of different forums. This was the first board I started going to on Ezboard, then I found others so I decided to make a username that was a bit more universal that I could use on all of them. I have thought about just using my AshJs3 one on here since it'd just be easier to have them all in one place. I went back and added my GoofyGirl signature so perhaps I will just start using AshJs3. Plus I'm well past the 18 years in my username now.

Be very careful buying a used iPod from ebay, craig's list, or other similar method. iPods are easily stolen and resold. One other suggestion... do you
have any really geeky friends or relatives? You know... the one who always gets the gadget or gizmo when it first comes out? The new iPod touch is due out
soon. Offer to buy their old one so they can get the new model as soon as it comes out.

You won't be sorry, DeAnna. If you have any questions about converting your DVD's to your ipod please give me a shout...I've become very good at it
over the time since I bought my ipod and even have free programs you can use to get the converstion done and then it drops it right into your itunes.
Also...if you're converting TV shows from DVD's, I can direct you how to get them into their own little area on your ipod just made for TV Shows and how to get them to show in order of released, provided you know the order they were shown. I have the entire series of the 1967 - 1972 TV Show Family Affair on my ipod so I can visit with Buffy, Jody and Mrs. Beasley any time I wish ~* Noreen*~
