It's been awhile since I've been on this board, and longer since I traded. But I am at WDW right now and came to the board to investigate scrappers.
It's through this series that I first found out about the scrappers. I have been working on this set since its release. DH and I drove up to British
Columbia to the MetroCentre store and bought out what they had left (about a dozen). I wanted to go to the other store in North Vancouver, but DH was tired
and talked me into thinking they wouldn't have any left. Then we got back home and I found another poster that said they had some, I was so upset. But
with those dozen BC pins plus the WA pins, I was able to trade for most of the set originally.
I would check ebay occasionally , and as prices fell I was able to pick up a couple ((when Disney Auctions/Disney Deals) first started they sold a bunch of the rare ones), and through the NFFC show & sale. Then one day I bought a few states from one ebay seller, and when they came they didn't have packaging, and not all the holes were punched out right, or there was something else a little "off." The seller, after the fact, said that they were "factory seconds." And thus my introduction to the scrappers. I didn't pay that much for them, and at that time I didn't know how widespread the scrapper problem was so I didn't care. I figured there were an "extra dozen or so, that didn't past quality control."
Anyway, I am missing Alaska, Idaho and Nova Scotia. I also need to go back through and replace the few scrappers. I know Iowa was one, I think there are two more, but I have to see which ones I don't have packages for. My parents and I split the set, so my Dad has a few duplicates. I don't know if he is willing to part with them or not, but he probably is. So we have one extra BC floating around a few others from more populous states. I'd still love to finish them, but I don't know if it will happen.
Ooh, just remembered. I think I bought extras of a couple off Disney Deals when they had them, I have to see what I got when I get home.
