Bag Tag explanation!
Susan and I are frequent visitors to Disneyland. We learned from the cast members there that they would often find pin bags with pins in them and no
identification to tell them who the bag belonged to. It makes it tough to identify (how many people can quote the contents of their trading bag from memory?)
and although Disney has one of the best lost and found departments in the world, they can't return your bag if they don't know it belongs to you.
That was when Susan had the idea of creating luggage tags specifically for pin bags. We decided to start a Tag Your Bag campaign and with the help of Dizpins,
we've been supplying people with tags to put identifying information on their pin bags. We call them Bag Tags for obvious reasons. You can either order
them and have them mailed to you, or if you are at an event where Susan and I make an appearance, you can get one made on the spot.
We don't charge anything for the tags. This is our service to the pin community, because we have gotten so much joy out of our hobby that we want to give
something back. If you get them by mail, we ask that you send a self-addressed stamped envelope for us to return them in so we don't have to be out of
pocket for postage. Otherwise, we'll just hand them to you. We tried it out at the last DLR PTN and they seemed to be a hit.
To get one, all you need to do is pick a picture from the link above, or suggest a picture if you can't find one you like, and tell us what identifying
information you want one the tag. For example, some people have been using their name and their e-mail address, their name and their mobile phone number,
their name and their address and so on. That way if you walk off the monorail without your pin bag, Disney can get in touch with you and hopefully get it back
to you quickly.
If you got a tag and someone used their fingernail on it and messed it up, you can request another one. Not a problem. We're not wholesalers and we don't produce in bulk, but we'll burn more than one at a time if we can. All that we ask is at the event, you wait your turn. At the last event, we had to shoo some people away who wanted twelve made at once. Two at a time, please, and then let someone else have a turn. You don't have to stand there and wait if you don't want to. You can drop your information off and we'll get to it when we can. You're not restricted to two, but we like to keep the line moving.
We'll bring some paper for you to put your identifying information on (we aren't stalkers and we don't keep the info or use it for any nefarious
purpose) but if you happen to have a business card, that's exactly the right size. I use my business card (well, my pin business card) on mine. We'll
also bring stickers if you want to decorate with them. (Stickers are not a renewable resource, so we ask you please don't waste them.)
And, Jackie, I'll poke around and see if I can't find Todd and Copper and the Dormouse for pictures. Anyone else have requests?
