I was at the Magic Kingdom today and pulled an le 200 chesire cat lollipop pin off of a cast members lanyard. I was shocked. They have not even been released by Disney yet and people are putting them on lanyards. The cast member told me that someone had traded it to her about 10 minutes before I took it. It is a real shame to see this happening. I wish Disney would try a little harder to end all of this. I took a picture of the pin but I do not know how to add it to this post. If anyone could let me know how to I will. Thanks!

I've seen them on the auction site for a few weeks now. At first they were asking ridiculous prices, but I see they've gone down a little. It is sad and if they aren't careful they are going to ruin our hobby.

The back of the pin has the 2008 pin trading logo on it along with pin 10 of 10 limited edition 200and the copy right disney stamp. I e-mailed the pictures ( front and back ) to shellkervel. Hopefully they will turn out alright.

I hate that it's happened to such a great set. I haven't been too crazy about the tins. This was the first one that really got my attention.

I'm bummed that this has happened to you all. I have been against scrappers from the very beginning. Even when it was "just a rack pin or hidden mickey pin". And I'm really surprised the scrapper supporters haven't jumped on this thread, as they have in previous times, with their famous phrase "As long as you like it, who cares".
Kinda stinks when you shell out good money for something that may not be real. Or better yet, trade a valuable authentic pin for 'junk'...but hey, as long as you like it, right?? Perhaps it's now seeping into their areas of pins and it perhaps, IS a big deal.......  The "World" Famous HAPPY Disney Pin Traders,

Sorry everyone is so bummed. I really wasn't excited for the set and was seriously considering passing on the Chessie... I can't say I'd pull one off a lanyard for trading (if the scrappers are that pervasive) but I might grab one just to have one... I dunno.

A fast way to see if the pin is real or not in the lollipop series ... look at the back of the pin... there should be two nubs, one on each side of the pin.
This is not true for all Disney pins... but it is for this collection of lollipops. Hear-say has it that two of the ones passing these bad pins were caught.

You know what's sad? I was just in the parks last week, and bought 3 of the tins while on vacation. I picked one, my mom picked one, and my fiancee who
doesn't collect pins, doesn't understand all the fuss, or understand how special it is to find a Holy Grail picked the 3rd. The one I picked? Mickey,
Donald, Chip, and Dale. The one my Mother picked? Mickey, Donald, Chip, Pluto. And my fiancee? Dale, Mickey, Donald, STITCH. So here I am, with an authentic LE
200 Stitch that my fiancee picked the can for, and I am afraid if I do find a Cheshire Cat, it'll be a scrapper. At least she got to see how excited I was
when the last baggie in the tin produced the Stitch...maybe I can get her involved yet...
Does anyone know if there have been other scrappers found from this set besides the Cheshire Cat? I just completed a trade for the Goofy, and now I'm paranoid about it as well. Thanks! |
