No, public refers to the pin's availability and public indicates that it is available to anyone. Other types in this catagory would include Cast Member or Special Event, etc

To determine an open edition pin on Pinpics, look at the "Limited Edition" section. If "no" is listed, than the pin is open edition.

Wow, what a prompt response. Thank you for the information it clarifies what I had read. I thought that might be the case but was not sure I understood correctly. When reading about a pin on pinpics does public mean the same as open edition?

As that is an open edition pin, it was likely rereleased in years following its original release n 2002. So yes, that pin could have any year on it from 2002 through and including the present.

Hello, I am fairly new to this wonderful hobby and recently aquired a small collection from a friend. In it was pin 16159: DLR - Indiana Jones The Temple of the Forbidden Eye. I know that their is a bootleg version of this pin. However, mine matches the detail of the real thing "MADE IN CHINA" on back, no metal between the whip and the body of the pin and " The Temple of the Forbidden Eye" on front. The question comes from the year in the pin...
