Fake pins??

I have a few pins that I am concerned may not be the real deal and I was wondering if someone with more experience than me could help (I've only been doing this for about 1 month). I have the Louie pin where he is grimacing on a green t-shirt. On the back it says, "Cast Lanyard Serise" (with the quotes and incorrect spelling of series). Should I be concerned about the quotes and misspelling? Also, I have a few of the villian pin and on the back the words Cast Lanyard...

Is the picture on pinpics right? The picture on pinpics shows 2 silver dots below and to the side of the left eye socket. I have done trade off cast lanyards, trades thru pinpics, and bought off ebay. I keep getting a pin that only has one silver dot below the eyepatch and some of the lines don't look right. I have received over a dozen fakes of this pin and have gotten quite frustrated as it seems there isn't an authentic one out there anywhere. Just wondering if the design was...

Disneyland HM Witch Hazel 2007 Comparison notes

While at Disneyland in October, I made it my personal mission to collect all five of the hidden mickey pins from set 10. They included Donald, his nephews, Witch Hazel and the Hitch Hiking Ghosts. Well, I collected Everything except for Witch Hazel.

I agreed to a trade on pin pics to receive Witch Hazel, and when I got it, I had a sneaking suspicion that it was a scrapper. Now, I didn't have another one to compare it to, but I sent it back...

2008 DLR Cast Lanyard Silhouettes Daisy

Unfortunately I don't have pictures available but my GF and I came across a Daisy Silhouette this past week that was quite possibly fake. It looked the same except it was completely smooth whereas the originals feel rough because of raised features. It also felt quite a bit lighter than the real ones.

I guess it was inevitable but thankfully it was a few months down the line so that if you got yours in the first 2 months or so you probably don't have to worry about...

Pin 50268: Bootleg - Eeyore 1966 Logo

Just wondering why this pin is listed as a bootleg. I actually got this pin at a cast event when I worked at DL fresh out of the box of many pins. It wasn't a pin that had ever been traded. It was brand new and they were handing them out at the event in the little stapled bag that Disney gives CM's their pins in. The pin is still in the bag. Just pulled it out with all the other free pins I got at Disneyland when I worked there.

DLR Indiana Jones fake or not

Hello, I am fairly new to this wonderful hobby and recently aquired a small collection from a friend. In it was pin 16159: DLR - Indiana Jones The Temple of the Forbidden Eye. I know that their is a bootleg version of this pin. However, mine matches the detail of the real thing "MADE IN CHINA" on back, no metal between the whip and the body of the pin and " The Temple of the Forbidden Eye" on front. The question comes from the year in the pin...

I was at DLR today and traded for the DisneyShopping.com - Stitch Surfing Series set of 6 pins. I did not recognize them for what they were until I came home to look them up on Pin Pics. They appear to be pins 48347, 48348, 48349, 48350, 48351 and 48352. They look identical on the front, but the back of the pin does not...

I've come across of few of these that have looked quite different from a real one so I'm going to make the assumption that there are scrappers of this pin out there. I have not seen any fakes of the others of this series, just Scrooge. The front of the pin did not look noticeably different for the real vs the fake pin but the back of the pin was quite different.

Have there been a surge of these recently, or are they scappers? The reason I ask is that I have never gotten a TA offereing the USA Donald and this morning I get two. I have the fake, so I know what it looks like, just wanted to know if some of the real ones are starting to show up.

Has anyone seen or heard that there are scrappers of this collection? I traded for three of them at PTN the other night and I am looking to get the other 2 ducks (so I can have all my ducks in a row) that I need which is Scrooge and April,May,June. I noticed on pinpics the want ratio is pretty high for all of them and the trade ratio is pretty low, except for Scrooge which is almost dead even. I might be a little paranoid but I don't want to trade a pin I know is real (my Daisy Silhouette)...

Here's a question about these Mickey Pins. On the Pin Pics listings, several of them have the "unauthorized pin' (scrapper) warning statement. Is there a visual difference between the good and the scrapper pins? I purchased several of these on EBay. Now I'd like to trade them, but I don't want to trade scrappers.

I think I learned something new with my camera today dealing with the bad glares on these pins.

First the backs... Notice the extra two points on either side of the post on the real pin. The other thing I couldn't photograph, the pin post it's in a pyramid not attached to the flat post

How can you tell if it is a Scrapper Pin?

OK, There are so many fake pins going around now in the parks and online. So how can you tell what is good and what is bad? Can some one please explain the how to tell the difference? I am sure I am not the only one a little confused on telling the difference, but how do you tell when trading with a cast memeber at the park or just in general. Please explain so the exact information is out there and others do not get screwed again and again over and over.

I was at the Magic Kingdom today and pulled an le 200 chesire cat lollipop pin off of a cast members lanyard. I was shocked. They have not even been released by Disney yet and people are putting them on lanyards. The cast member told me that someone had traded it to her about 10 minutes before I took it. It is a real shame to see this happening. I wish Disney would try a little harder to end all of this. I took a picture of the pin but I do not know how to add it to this post. If anyone could...

I have 6 of these pins and was told by another trader to use them wisely because they are very sought after, and make very good traders. They also told me to make sure they are the real deal. She had heard that the fakes look more blue green than blue. There isn't any mention of a scrapper description on Pinpics, so I'd like some information from any of the OHANA that can help me out.

I know with this type of mirrowed material on the front, scratches will show. I only have one that...

Well, I'm still fairly new to this pin trading. My daughter and I started on our trip to the World in August. I'm a huge HM fan and when I saw Phineas on a lanyard that's when I started trading (had to use one of my daughters to get him). I have Pin 22048: Tokyo DisneySea - Lagoon Window Under the Sea but it's not blue like in the picture unless you're holding it to the light. At a normal angle the glass part is reflected red. Does anyone else have this pin and is that normal?
